November

November has been a busy month for us. We started the month off by seeing John's art show. Then Jason and I split for a week - he to boot camp in SC, and I to Jennifer and David's home in KY. I managed to talk a friend into driving up with me so I could have company on the road. By the time we got up there both our throats were sore from talking all day! :) We all had a ton of fun hanging out together for a week. When I picked up Jason I had a huge shock - he had got his head shaved! It took me a little while to get used to it, but now I really like it.

A sample of John's artwork.

Art and Hiking

Last week we got to hang out with Caleb a bit.

He had an open house for his art show last Friday at UAH.

We really enjoyed seeing all his western art put up in one room.

We went hiking with him the next day. We hiked from Mom and Dad's home up to Monte Sano park and back. It was a total of seven miles... My muscles felt very sore for the next couple of days!

Ireland

The first two week of July we spent in Ireland. The first week we worked in the kitchen for a praise and worship camp. We had an awesome time there! We were able to hang out with some Irish people and learn some of the words that are used over there. For example when you are trying to get the attention of your waiter, never say "ma'am". That is what they call their mothers! Instead you call "miss!" when you need something. The second week we went sightseeing. We saw castles, mountains, cliffs, and several places where movies had been filmed. We enjoyed ourselves a whole lot, and can't wait to go back someday.

June 20th

The day before my birthday Caleb came and picked me up. I wasn't allowed to know what we were going to do or where we were going.

First he took me to lunch at Shea's Express. We both had some awesome salads.

Then we drove, and drove and drove.... Finally we parked on the side of the road and started hiking. First we went through a cornfield, and then through some woods, and then...

We arrived at a beautiful waterfall! We had fun getting our feet wet, and hiking around in the surrounding woods.

Art Museum

Father's Day weekend we visited the Museum of Art. They were just opening a new exhibit called "The Age of Armor". To celebrate the opening, there were people from the SCA (The Society for Creative Anachronism) all dressed up in medieval costume acting things out.

Our favorite activity was watching the swordfighting.

Jason took lots of pictures of all the armor. This picture is the front of a "Sallet Helmet" from the South of Germany.

This suit of armor, "3/4 Armor Cuirassier", is also from the south of Germany.

There were many weapons on display. This is a Warhammer.
